தனி ஒரு மனிதனுக்கு உணவில்லை எனில் இந்த ஜகத்தினை அழித்திடுவோம்
If one person does not have food, we will destroy the world
In early 2022, during a casual conversation with Mr. Aanatham, the Head of Perumal Temple in
Thirunagar, Madurai, Babu Dilip learned about a local initiative providing free dinners to ten elderly
individuals in need. The mention of this small yet impactful effort sparked an idea in Babu's mind.
Curious, he asked whether there were more elderly individuals in the area who could benefit from
such support and what else could be done to help them. This conversation soon expanded with the
insights of Mr. Chandrasekaran, who explained that there was indeed a significant number of helpless
senior citizens, particularly within the Sourashtra community at Mahalakshmi Weavers Colony, who
lacked regular access to nutritious meals.
Moved by the plight of these elderly individuals, many of whom had no family support, Babu began a
mission to ensure they wouldn’t go to bed hungry. After carefully evaluating the needs of the
community, he initiated a daily dinner program in July 2023, providing meals for 40 senior citizens.
Within just a couple of months, the initiative grew, thanks to Babu’s continued support. Today, it
provides both lunch and dinner to 55 seniors in need, with a commitment of approximately 1.5 lakh
INR per month.
Babu Dilip, a devoted follower of the inspiring poet Bharathiyar, is deeply influenced by his famous
words, “தனி ஒருவனுக்கு உணவில்லை எனில் ஜகத்தினை அழித்திடுவோம்” -
"If one person does not have food, we will destroy the world." This powerful statement, reflecting
Bharathiyar's fierce commitment to social justice, resonates profoundly with Babu's philosophy.
It was this very spirit of compassion and responsibility that drove him to launch the daily meal
program for helpless senior citizens in Madurai.

This effort is more than just about food; it’s about restoring dignity, care, and a sense of
belonging to these seniors. The Thirunagar Sourashtra Senior Citizens Welfare Committee
has been instrumental in making this vision a reality, handling the logistics and daily
operations with dedication. Special thanks go to volunteers like Mr. Chandrasekaran,
Mr. Aanatham, Mr. Krishnarav, Mr. Harikrishnan, and Mr. Subramanian, who generously
give their time each day to ensure the meals are distributed smoothly and with warmth.
Through this initiative, Babu has made a significant impact on the lives of these seniors,
showing that compassion and community care can transform lives. His commitment ensures
that these individuals are nourished, respected, and remembered. This project stands as a
testament to Babu’s dedication to uplifting the most vulnerable members of society,
reflecting his belief that everyone deserves dignity and care, regardless of age or
circumstance.
