Empowering Education: Babu Dilip’s Transformative 31 Lakh INR Contribution, Including Student Toilets and 6 Computers, to Avaniyapuram Government High School

During a 2023 visit to Madurai Avaniyapuram Government High School, located near his residence, Babu Dilip had an eye-opening discussion with the school’s headmaster and teachers about the urgent needs of the school. He learned that the students faced significant challenges due to limited facilities and curriculum options:

1. Inadequate Sanitation Facilities: The school did not have enough toilets for boys, girls, and special needs students. The existing toilet facilities were in poor condition, which was a pressing issue for the overall health and hygiene of the students.

2. Lack of Subject Options for Higher Secondary Students: The school, catering to students up to 12th grade, only offered Biology + Maths for students in grades 11 and 12. This limited option was challenging for many students, who would have preferred Computer Science as a more accessible and practical alternative. However, due to a lack of resources, students who wanted this subject had to travel far to attend other schools that offered it. To introduce Computer Science, the school needed at least six computers and a dedicated teacher for the subject.

Moved by the needs and requests of the headmaster and teachers, Babu promptly stepped up to provide the necessary support. He obtained approval from Namma Ooru Palli foundation, a Tamil Nadu Government initiative focused on enhancing government schools, and contributed 31 lakh INR to address the critical needs.

Toilet Renovation and Expansion: Babu funded the construction of new and improved toilet facilities, which began in February 2024 and were completed by September 2024. These new facilities now provide adequate and hygienic sanitation options for all students, including special needs students, fostering a healthier school environment.

1. Introduction of Computer Science for Higher Secondary: In May 2024, Babu provided six computers, enabling the school to start a Computer Science option for 11th-grade students beginning in the June 2024 academic year. This new subject option offers students a more practical, skills-oriented pathway, opening up career and educational opportunities that were previously out of reach.

2.Sponsoring a Computer Science Teacher: Recognizing that sustainable education requires both infrastructure and personnel, Babu committed to sponsoring the salary of a dedicated Computer Science teacher. Starting in June 2024, the school now has a qualified teacher to guide students in Computer Science, ensuring they receive quality instruction and support.
