In May 2021, as the COVID-19 crisis escalated in India, hospitals faced severe shortages of essential resources, including oxygen, critical for treating severely ill patients. In response, Babu Dilip, driven by a profound commitment to support his hometown, organized the shipment of 20 oxygen concentrators from Singapore to Dindigul Government Hospital, the place that holds special significance as the city where he completed his schooling.
This donation was not only timely but also deeply personal, reflecting Babu’s gratitude toward his roots and his commitment to giving back to the community that helped shape him. Oxygen concentrators were in high demand at the time, and each unit delivered to the hospital provided a vital resource that saved lives and alleviated some of the immense pressure on healthcare workers.
The success of this initiative was made possible by the invaluable support of Dr. Kaleeswaran and Mr. Vincent, both of whom were Babu’s schoolmates in Dindigul. These friends took on the responsibility of handling logistics on the ground, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of the concentrators to the hospital.
Their efforts allowed Babu’s donation to reach those in need without delay, directly contributing to the well-being of countless patients and easing the burden on healthcare staff.
