In 2023, Babu Dilip visited Prasanna Colony Government Middle School, located in Prasanna Colony, Madurai.
The school serves over 400 students from grades 1 through 8 in both Tamil and English mediums, drawing
children from surrounding poor and middle-class families who rely on this school to provide free, quality
education.
As Babu walked through the school, he observed that many classrooms were overcrowded and in disrepair.
The school was forced to combine Tamil and English medium students into the same classrooms due to a
lack of space, making it difficult for teachers to manage and for students to focus. One building, once intended
as a classroom block, had been abandoned because its ceiling was cracked and unsafe, leaving the school
with even fewer classrooms to accommodate the students.
Additionally, the school’s toilets were in poor condition, inadequate to serve the growing student population,
which led to daily struggles for the children.
Moved by the needs of these children and determined to make a meaningful difference, Babu decided to fund
1.4 Crore INR for the construction of a brand-new school building, totaling 6,200 square feet. This new facility,
designed to address the school’s most pressing challenges, will include:
1. Multipurpose Hall at Ground Level: A spacious area that can be used for assemblies, indoor activities, and
community gatherings, creating a focal point for school life and encouraging a sense of unity among students.
2.Six New Classrooms: Three classrooms on each of the first and second floors, providing much-needed space
to keep Tamil and English medium students separate, allowing them to learn without crowding or disruption.
3.Separate Toilets for Boys and Girls: Clean and adequate restroom facilities designed to ensure students’
hygiene and comfort.
4. Furniture and Equipment: Each classroom will be equipped with tables, chairs, fans, and lighting, creating a
comfortable, well-lit, and ventilated environment ideal for learning.

In May 2024, Babu led a boomi pooja (groundbreaking ceremony) held on the site, marking
the official start of construction. With approval from the Namma Ooru Namma Palli
foundation, a Tamil Nadu Government initiative dedicated to improving government schools,
this project has become a reality. The construction is expected to be completed by early 2026,
bringing a new era of hope and opportunity to the students and families of Prasanna Colony.
This project is a testament to Babu Dilip’s belief in the power of education to uplift
communities. By addressing fundamental needs, he is helping to break the cycle of poverty,
enabling the next generation to aspire to greater achievements. His work is a powerful
reminder that with vision, compassion, and commitment, we can create spaces that empower
children and transform communities for generations to come.
Through this transformative project, Babu demonstrates that meaningful philanthropy is
about addressing fundamental needs that shape lives. His commitment to education and
community empowerment is a testament to his belief in creating opportunities that empower
the younger generation. When completed, this school will stand not only as a physical
structure but as a symbol of hope, resilience, and the power of giving back to one’s roots.
For the students of Prasanna Colony, it represents a new chapter in their lives - one filled
with potential and promise, thanks to the compassion and vision of Babu Dilip.
